About 16 miles north of Boston in the town of Lynnfield, there's a marketplace — MarketStreet Lynnfield — that has been opening up new outposts of Boston-based restaurants left and right, from Davio's and Fugakyu to Temazcal Tequila Cantina and Gaslight (coming soon). Now open, reports Boston Restaurant Talk: Wahlburgers, the third location of a growing chain with a celebrity family and reality television show behind it and worldwide expansion planned.
The original Wahlburgers is located in Hingham, and there's also one up in Toronto, with Boston proper (Fenway), Orlando, Las Vegas, Philadelphia, and more on the way soon, including 20 around the Middle East. A reality show, Wahlburgers — featuring Donnie, Mark, and Paul Wahlberg and other assorted family and friends — will air its fourth season starting in July on A&E.
In addition to burgers, Wahlburgers serves hot dogs; turkey, chicken, fish, and mushroom-based sandwiches; salads; and desserts, including a grilled banana "fluffanutta." There's also a "fluffanutta" adult frappe for those who feel the need to drink marshmallow vodka mixed with ice cream, peanut butter, and banana liqueur.
The early Yelp consensus on the first week of service is lukewarm, with some users praising the "amazing" and "10/10" burgers while others complain about high prices and wrong orders.
Wahlburgers plans to open its Fenway location next quarter.
