Whole House Group is looking to beef up its staff this summer, as the hospitality company that brought a city dining experience to Sudbury with 29 Sudbury plans three more restaurants later this year.
Co-founded by Chris Stephans and WAAF radio personality Greg "The Hill-Man" Hill, WHG is looking for front-of-house and kitchen managers. The new concepts are Battle Road Brewery, soon-to-be located in a historic Maynard mill; Flank, opening at the old Polaroid site in Waltham; and West Concord Beef Company.
As previously reported, Battle Road Brewery will be the permanent home of that company, founded in 2012. In addition to a brew pub, the new, 30-barrel facility, located in Maynard's Clock Tower Mill, gives the contract brewery the ability to expand production from 500 to 5,000 barrels a year, and also increase distribution. Beerpulse.com notes Battle Road will be carried by M.S. Walker. The company will offer an innovative style of can, too, which allows the drinker to remove the entire top and sip from the vessel like it's a glass, says BeerAdvocate.
The brewpub will seat between 50 - 75 over 12,000 square feet, reports the Boston Business Journal. Some of that includes a traditional, outdoor beer garden overlooking Mill Pond. Battle Road has signed a 10-year lease for the space, which formerly housed offices.
Flank calls itself "the New American Beefsteak," and it will offer a modern take on a type of dinner popular in the early 20th century. The beefsteak was a male-only, "meaty banquet-style feast, enjoyed sans utensils," Boston Magazine noted. Flank will offer a traditional, family-style menu, plus steakhouse options. Women are allowed to join, Zagat notes.
The 8,000-square foot restaurant is currently being built on the former Polaroid campus in Waltham. The mixed-use development, dubbed 1265 Main, will also be home to another outpost of local mini-chain Jake 'n Joe's Sports Grille, local bigger chain Not Your Average Joe's, and global behemoth-of-a-chain Starbucks. There will also be retail, including a Market Basket.
West Concord Beef Company will, presumably, join the growing array of dining destinations in the historically-significant community of Concord, which includes newcomers Salt Box Kitchen and Woods Hill Table.
The beef company hasn't established a web presence yet, but stay tuned for updates as more information about all of Whole House Group's endeavors becomes available.
