HUB-WIDE — This weekend, a few new venues for day-drinking (and more!) will open for the first time. On Saturday, May 9, jm Curley will open its doors for lunch at 11:30 a.m., and that tradition will continue every Saturday for eternity. At 3 p.m. that same day, a redesigned upstairs bar called the Club Car will open at The SinclairConceptualized by designer Stephen Martyak of studioTYAK, the 8-seat bar has a 1930s locomotive vibe. Check it out while enjoying complimentary appetizers until 6 p.m.; RSVPs are required, though. On Sunday, a couple places will unveil new brunch menus. [Eaterwire]

HARVARD SQUARE — Try something sweet with something strong this Saturday, May 9 at Temple Bar. Beverage director Jenn Harvey is leading a cocktail and confection pairing sesh — the mixologist is a trained pastry chef, so she's an expert. The class runs from 3 - 5 p.m. and tickets are $35. JAMAICA PLAIN — Flowers and food trucks: What could make for a better Sunday afternoon? This weekend, find both of those things at the Arnold Arboretum. During the 107th annual Lilac Sunday, 20 food trucks will be around from 11 a.m. - 3 p.m., including the debut of Heritage Truck, farm-to-truck cuisine from executive chef David Stein and the team at the commissary kitchen Stock Pot Malden.
