The notorious King Arthur's Motel and Lounge in Chelsea closed in July 2014, a relief to residents who weren't quite so fond of "the site of murders, a legendary police brutality case, a bombing and, of course, countless men tossing dollars in the dim light at nude women gyrating on stage," as the Globe described it. (As one Yelper put it, "STAY AWAY. You only have one life to live, and King Arthur's is the prime locale to lose it.")
Now, a few Middleton residents want to open a new place there called the Phantom Club, which would cater to an "upscale crowd...a formal suit and tie clientele," reports the Chelsea Record, citing the group's application to the Licensing Commission. It would include "totally nude dancing," according to the Record, with a side of bar food like wings and burgers.
A public hearing will take place in May or June.
