Hingham-based Wahlburgers, the burger-focused restaurant owned by the celebrity Wahlberg family (and the focus of a reality show on A&E), is making even more expansion plans in its quest for world burger domination. The company announced today that it has signed a 20-store franchise deal in the Middle East — and two franchises will also pop up at airports in Toronto and right here in Boston.
A total of 66 locations are "under development to open over the next several years," according to the announcement; only two exist so far — Hingham and Toronto. Coming up next: Lynnfield, MA and Coney Island, NY this quarter, followed by the first Boston proper location (near Fenway Park) next quarter. Also in the works for the rest of 2015: Orlando, Philadelphia, Las Vegas, and more in New York. The first restaurant opened in 2011.
