Inman Square has a new bar and restaurant as of this weekend, when Hops N Scotchofficially opened its second outpost, located on the corner of Prospect and Cambridge Streets. The new spot has a lot in common its sister space, the original Hops N Scotch in Coolidge Corner. Expect to see a lot of the same menu, both from the kitchen and the bar.
The space itself is bright and cheery with sunny yellow-orange walls. The dining room is intimate with about 40 seats — tables in the center and along the windows that will open in the summer, plus banquettes that line the walls. The dining room is set above the rest of the space, giving diners in the right seat a great view of the whole restaurant. Off to the side, and just before a ramp that leads to the bar, a small alcove with a high-top counter and a handful of chairs provide a little escape in the middle of all the action.
The large, wooden bar has plenty of seating options, and an asymmetrical high-top table sits in the middle of it all. The day's offerings are written on a mirror as well as a large chalkboard amidst gleaming glass bottles behind the bar.
