Shepard Will Bring 'Big Fluffy Pizzas' & Leg of Lamb to Cambridge This Month

There will also be French onion soup, because it's literally the rule.

The Boston Globe reports that May 11 is the targeted opening date of Shepard, the new, "French in spirit" restaurant from chef Susan Regis (Four Seasons, Biba, Upstairs in the Square) and Rene Becker (Hi-Rise Bread Company).

As previously reported, the Cambridge restaurant will have a white-tiled, Marra Forni wood-fired oven, and the Globe's Kara Baskin got a little insight about what may come out of it, including oysters, razor clams, and leg of lamb.

Also, pizza. "I can’t wait to make big fluffy pizzas with anchovies," Regis recently told Boston Common Magazine. Shepard will also feature French onion soup, as that was a condition from the landlord of the former Chez Henri space, Regis said. The small menu — no more than five starters, five entrees, and a bar menu — will change frequently and feature hyper-seasonal ingredients. Becker, a former food critic, will also be involved in shaping the menu.
