Mulan Taiwanese Restaurant in Waltham has closed today for renovations. The answering machine reached at the eatery says the work will take about two months, and when it reopens, Mulan will have a "large space, better seating, and the same high-quality service." A poster on the Chowhound forum notes that signage on the door of the establishment says Mulan is expanding next door.
Mulan also has a Cambridge outpost, but it has been closed since December after experiencing a fire. It remains closed with no reopening timeline indicated on its website, nor on the answering machine reached at that restaurant.
Mulan offers Taiwanese food, which, according to its website, is less spicy and healthier than other Asian cuisines more commonly found in this area. Smoked pork with leeks is the restaurant's specialty; it also offers dishes like salted crispy chicken, Taiwanese-style smoked duck, and a variety of homemade dumplings.
