The second local location of Gyu-Kaku, first reported late last summer, is coming soon, and the Harvard Square restaurant is currently hiring for all front- and back-of-house positions, according to a recent CraigsList post.
Gyu-Kaku is a Japanese chain with more than 600 locations in Japan and a growing stateside presence, with the Cambridge outpost becoming its 29th in this country. A Brookline store opened in 2013. Construction is currently underway on the Eliot Street space, according to a Facebook post from April, and the company president announced an anticipated early summer opening.
The restaurant specializes in yakiniku, a form of barbecue where guests grill their own meats and vegetables themselves, at the table. The restaurant's signature dishes include Angus skirt steak marinated in miso and garlic shrimp.
