SOMERVILLE — Who is Boston's Top Dog? Chef Tony Maws (Craigie on Main) is looking to find out: His restaurant, Kirkland Tap & Trotter, is inviting four area chefs to throw down the hot dog gauntlet this summer. Starting June 1 with Ken Oringer (Clio, Coppa, Toro), each chef will bring an original recipe, which will be available as a Monday special until the next chef has his or her turn. Matt Jennings (Townsman), takes over June 29, Karen Akunowicz (Myers + Chang) steps in August 3, and Jody Adams (Trade, Rialto) closes out the summer on August 31. The dogs are $16, and 50% of proceeds will be donated to Share Our Strength, a national charity working to end childhood hunger in the United States. [Press Release]
UNION SQUARE — Sausage Week commences at Bronwyn on June 9. The specials include a footlong bratwurst on Tuesday, nurnbergers (mini smoked brats, skewered and covered in beer gravy and smoked cheddar) on Friday, and more. Each house-smoked, hand-cased sausage is $19 and comes with potatoes, kraut, and mustard; they're available until they're over. [Press Release]
FORT POINT — What's classier than a hot dog? A hot dog served with a flute of champagne. Menton is hosting a night revolving around this pairing on Thursday, June 11. Chef Scott Jones and wine director Cat Silirie have a menu of "indulgent and whimsical" hot dogs, including a popular Menton special, foie gras frankfurter, which will be available from 9 p.m. - midnight.
