A summertime tradition in Everett is over this year: Richie's Slush announced that its Italian ice shop on Revere Beach Parkway will not open this summer.
Boston Restaurant Talk reported that the original post on the brand's website does not give a reason for the shutter, but says the circumstances are beyond their control.
Richie's has been making Italian ice since 1956, and the flavors have expanded to include blue vanilla, pina colada, bubble gum, almond, and more. It has a wholesale operation nearby at 3 Garvey St. which will remain in operation; the company notes on Facebook that the slush shop is under different management. Richie's Slush will still be available at supermarkets around the region.
UPDATE: Now Richie's will indeed open for the season (debuting on May 15), according to Boston Restaurant Talk.
