NORTH END — In case you hadn't heard, the North End has some pretty good food. During the 22nd annual Taste of the North End at the DCR Steriti Memorial Ice Rink (561 Commercial St.) tonight from 7 - 11 p.m., sample fare from more than 35 different establishments, including Antico Forno, Modern Pastry, Gennaro's 5 North Square, Neptune Oyster, and more. There are also libations, live music, and a silent auction. Tickets are $99 and can be secured by calling 617-643-8105; they'll also be available at the door. All proceeds benefit a handful of North End charities. [Official Site]
NEWTON HIGHLANDS — Soft-shell crabs are now in season, and 51 Lincoln is celebrating throughout May with a different crustacean preparation each day. Try it spicy tonight, with amok sauce, jasmine rice, and stir-fried vegetables; tomorrow, it's part of a wedge salad with iceberg lettuce, bacon lardoons, and buttermilk ranch. See the month-long menu here. [Official Site]
HARVARD SQUARE — The annual Mayfair celebration takes place from noon - 6 p.m. this Sunday, May 3, with plenty of food vendors around the heart of Harvard Square. Find Michael Scelfo for an early taste of some of the tacos he'll be serving at his upcoming taqueria, Naco Taco. [Eaterwire]
SOUTH END — It's also officially food truck season. The SoWa Market, which kicks off this Sunday, May 3 and continues every Sunday through October 25, features a line-up of 20 or so munchie mobiles from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. at 540 Harrison Ave.
