An Italian restaurant in downtown Melrose is moving to Melrose Highlands over the summer because of a dispute with its current landlord, Boston Restaurant Talk reports via the Melrose Free Press. Absolutely Fabulous plans to open up the Highlands location late this summer.
The Free Press says that at the new location, the historic Corinthian Hall at 523 Franklin St., Ab Fab chef/owner Lori Muse will partner with Tony Sun, manager of Corinthian Hall's second-floor function space. Ab Fab will take up the ground level, and the two entities will coordinate events. The restaurant will provide catering services for private parties upstairs, and Sun will also help manage Ab Fab. Muse originally approached Sun last year about forming the partnership in addition to her Main Street restaurant, which opened in 2009, but issues with her landlord led to an eviction process, which the Free Press details.
Ab Fab is currently building out the new, 2,000-square foot space and will remain open on Main Street through the spring. The Franklin Street location, which Sun describes as feeling very open, will open late this summer. In the new space, more family-friendly items will be available, though a dinner menu for Ab Fab is no longer available online. Keep up with Ab Fab's progress on Facebook.
