Clambake at La Brasa; Toques & Tonic This Weekend

EAST SOMERVILLE — Tomorrow, April 8, head to La Brasa to pretend it's summer, thanks to a wood-fired clambake. The three-course menu ($65/couple) will be available all evening alongside the regular dinner menu, and it includes a choice of oysters or Nicoise salad to start, the clambake (whole split lobster, littleneck clams, andouille sausage, and grilled corn), and upside down strawberry rhubarb cake. FORT POINT — Once again, there's an all-star chef line-up in place for this year's Toques & Tonic event, which benefits the Barbara Lynch Foundation, The Network for Teaching Entrepreneurship, and The Cookbook Project. Taking place this Friday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at the Children's Museum, the event includes tastings from chefs from all over, including Grant Achatz (Alinea in Chicago), Paul Kahan (The Publican in Chicago), Mark Ladner (Del Posto in NYC), Andrew Taylor (Eventide in Portland, ME), and more. Local powerhouse participants include Michael Scelfo, Ana Sortun, Michael Serpa, Kristen Kish, and others. In addition to food and drink, there will be dancing, auctions, and "a few surprises." Tickets are $195 (or $350 if you'd also like to attend the after-party at Harpoon Brewery). Additionally, there's the glitzy Relais & Chateaux Grand Chef Gala Dinner at Menton the night before, featuring courses by Gary Danko (Restaurant Gary Danko in San Francisco), Grant Achatz, Barbara Lynch and Scott Jones (Menton), and more. EAST BOSTON — On Monday, April 13, SELECT Oyster Bar's Sebastian Martinez and East Boston Oysters chef Jay Hutchinson are teaming up to throw a seven-course seafood feast (paired with local beers and wines), hosted by KO Pies at the Shipyard. Mystic Brewery's Ryan MacDougall will also be on hand to discuss some of the brews. Tickets are $70 (plus $20 for beverage pairings), and the menu is being revealed bit by bit here. [Eventbrite]
