The third Boston-area location of Caffe Nero, a huge, London-based espresso chain, has opened up on Longwood Avenue, the brand tweeted today. Located inside the Longwood Medical building, the new cafe "absorbs its vibrant surroundings" and "offers sanctuary in the midst of Boston’s Academic hub."
According to Caffe Nero's website, the new shop features brickwork, oak panels and barn lighting, which gives it rustic warmth. The Longwood store is equipped with reclaimed, European furniture and metal countertops and tables.
Caffe Nero started in London in 1997 and has more than 650 locations worldwide. Its first U.S. shop opened in Downtown Crossing just about a year ago. A Jamaica Plain outpost opened earlier this year despite opposition from local business owners. South End and Fort Point cafes are coming, too.
Italian-style expresso drinks are Caffe Nero's specialty, though the chain also offers drip coffee at its Boston stores. The food menu includes pastries, cakes, cookies, sandwiches, and salads.
