The Inman Square location of an appropriately-named beer and whiskey bar is hosting an RSVP-only grand opening party tonight, Hops n Scotch announced on Facebook today. Urban Daddy reported that it would open its doors to the public this weekend.
Hops n Scotch, which landed in Coolidge Corner in 2012, started making moves toward Inman Square in February 2014. Under renovation since then, there have been a couple times the bar appeared poised to open soon, including last fall and earlier this spring.
"It's certainly been a long process as we have totally renovated the inside. It has a very similar speakeasy vibe as our flagship Brookline restaurant," co-owner Darren Tow told Eater. "I can't say that there were any real unexpected roadblocks along the way but I can say how great and supportive the neighborhood has been," he said, adding neighbors dropped by and many area fans emailed to check up on the restaurant's timeline. "We are excited and look forward to serving the area."
Tonight's party, which starts at 7 p.m., requires an RSVP. There will be complimentary hors d'oeuvres and a cash bar. Hops n Scotch is doing friends-and-family service tomorrow and Friday, and plans to open to the public on Saturday, Tow said.
UD shared Hops n Scotch's new menu, which is the same as the one available in Brookline. Expect small plates like Southern scotch eggs, pecan-stuffed dates wrapped in bacon, and charcuterie; plus entrees including tahini roasted eggplant and a 12-ounce New York strip HnS steak. Did we mention there's beer and whiskey? One hundred beers and 120 whiskeys, actually, according to UD.
