A restaurant called Sunny Boy will open in Brookline's Washington Square in early May, located in the former Cafe Nicholas space at 1632 Beacon St., reports Boston Restaurant Talk, also noting that BiNA Hospitality Group (jm Curley, Merrill & Co., etc.) is behind the project. Corporate filings support this; BiNA's Babak Bina and Andrew Cartin registered an LLC called Washington Square Hospitality a few months ago, and they went before the planning board in February to request an increase from 22 seats to 49 at the same address. At the time, the restaurant was to be called Schmaltz.
According to a job posting on Craigslist, Sunny Boy will serve "innovative, fresh, fun food for breakfast, lunch, dinner, and late night seven days a week" featuring "top quality ingredients" from "small family producers." The beverage program will be "modest, albeit rather unique."
