At CloverHFI, Play Pinball and Eat Vegetarian Fare 24 Hours a Day

New, 1 comment

The newest leaf of Clover officially opens today — and never closes.

At any hour, should an incurable craving for vegetarian fare and a game of pinball strike, stop into the newest addition to the fleet of Clover restaurants and trucks. Located right next to the Middle East nightclub in Central Square, CloverHFI is open 24 hours, starting today. It is the first 24-hour restaurant in Cambridge. The menu includes Clover classics as well as late-night offerings from midnight to 6 a.m., like beer-battered Grillo's pickles and a breakfast sandwich. Look for rotating specials, too.

The space itself is a bit warmer than other Clover locations, which are known for crisp, white walls and bright, fluorescent lights. The walls in this location are a light, slate grey. The kitchen, for the most part, looks the same as the other locations: open and welcoming. There are large monitors on the walls that will display the menu, and a wall of shelving that will house specialty foods and other items available for purchase. There's also a wall cooler in the back for grab-and-go items. Along the window, there are a handful of small seats, providing great views of the main drag in Central Square.

There is a second room, just off to the side of the kitchen, where a long, irregularly-shaped wooden table allows for communal dining. There's more window space, and a giant window set inside the frame of an exposed brick wall. Beyond the window is a blank canvas of a wall that will be used to showcase murals that change frequently. Right in front of this large window are two pinball machines.

CloverHFI will be celebrating its first 24-hour shift with giveaways tonight from 10 p.m. until 3 a.m. The prizes include gift certificates to other Central Square restaurants, free CloverHFI menu items, knife skills classes, and an exclusive, glow-in-the-dark Clover T-shirt.
