DAVIS SQUARE — It's almost time for the Kentucky Derby, and the Alpine Restaurant Group (Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar, Painted Burro, Posto) wants to make sure you're ready. To kick off a series of cooking classes, Derby Day Eats at Rosebud American Kitchen & Bar is happening this Saturday, April 25 at 3 p.m. Chef John Delpha will share how to properly brine and smoke pork chops at home, followed by a tutorial in building the perfect mint julep. Tickets are $55, or snag a spot in more than one class for a deal. [Eventbrite]
SPRING HILL — Cuisine en Locale has an intriguing event this Sunday, April 26 in its ONCE Lounge. Fifteen-year-old chef Bobby Dandliker is preparing a five-course meal. Bobby, a freshman at Newton South High School, begged Tony Maws (Craigie on Main, Kirkland Tap & Trotter) for a job at 12 (which he was granted). At this event, Bobby's menu includes country pate, a mushroom and pea gallimaufry that he loves "top to bottom," and more. The dinner goes from 5 - 8 p.m. and it's $85 per person. [Eventbrite]
