Shepard, a new venture from Susan Regis (formerly chef at Upstairs in the Square) and Rene Becker (Hi-Rise Bread Company owner), is coming in early May, its website says. The "French in spirit" restaurant was aiming for a late winter opening, before extending the target to early April, but now, May it is. Located at 1 Shepard St. in between Harvard and Porter squares, Shepard takes over the former Chez Henri space.
Yesterday, the restaurant's sparse-but-active Facebook page shared a geometrically interesting photo of some pegboard shelving. There's also an Instagram account for the concept, which yesterday shared the first glimpse of Shepard's kitchen: Namely, a white-tiled Marra Forni wood-fired oven. The aesthetic so far matches with the bright, airy space shown in renderings Cambridge-based Austin Architects shared at the end of last year. Stay tuned to social media to follow along as Shepard prepares to open this spring.
