Tex Mex Eats logoMondays are about to get a lot spicier: Tex Mex Eats, a Cambridge-based catering company and chef service specializing in tamales, is popping up the next four weeks at Petsi Pies in East Cambridge. The dinners will take place on April 27, May 4, May 11 and May 18 from 5:30 - 9 p.m.

Tex Mex Eats started in 2010 by chef Amanda Escamilla, a Corpus Christi, Texas native and catering alum of East Coast Grill. She describes her food as "'Texachusetts' flavors that combine Mexican dishes with local New England ingredients." In addition to at-home chef services, Escamilla sells her homemade tamales and salsas at Cambridge-area farmers markets and at Savenor's.

The Petsi Pies pop-ups will offer three types of tamales: traditional pork, farmers' vegetarian, and bean & cheese; plus barbecue pulled pork sliders; a Texas-style barbecue brisket plate with Spanish rice, pinto beans, olive and dill pickle potato salad, and jalapeno cornbread; agua fresca; and Tex Mex Eats flan. Of course, there will also be pies. Everything is available to take home, too.
