Signage just went up for Yuki Shabu - Sushi at 16 Bow St., which most recently housed Union Square Donuts (which is now in a bigger space a couple doors down).

Reached by phone at the city clerk's office, the secretary for the Somerville Licensing Commission said her records do not show a business of that name applying for a license to serve food or alcohol. Building permits provided by the Somerville Inspectional Services Division show Jason Du Construction was granted approval to renovate the existing restaurant space on Nov. 13, 2014; in February, Londonderry, N.H.-based NH Signs was approved to install the signage.

The name strongly suggests Yuki will serve shabu and sushi, but further information on the restaurant itself is elusive. Please share any intel on the tipline.

(Meanwhile in Davis Square, a shabu and sushi restaurant called Yumi is in the works.)

UPDATE: An Eater reader pointed out that Yuki LLC, with an address of 16 Bow St., Somerville, was organized in May 2014, according to public records available through the Massachusetts Corporations Division. The manager is Patchara Smith, who, records show, along with a John Smith, owns Thavorn Inc., the LLC that operates Sweet Ginger, a Thai restaurant a few doors up from Yuki Shabu - Sushi at 22 Bow St.
