Boston Hospitality Blog confirms information first reported way back in October 2013 — the forthcoming Envoy Hotel in Fort Point will have a new restaurant and a rooftop bar. Located at 70 Sleeper St., the ground floor of the 136-room hotel will house The Outlook, a kitchen and bar, with a 50-seat, outdoor patio, and The Lookout will be a satellite location a few stories up.
Citing a packed Boston Licensing Board agenda, BHT reported that the closed Jamaica Plain restaurant Tonic is transferring its liquor license to the new hotel's management. Pending approval, this trade would end the meandering tale of Tonic, which opened in 2012, then closed, then opened, then closed, then was rumored to become an Italian spot, then a Chinese food place. It looks like owner Coran McCormack has given up on finding a new proprietor for the restaurant at 3698 Washington St. in JP.
The Outlook and The Lookout are seeking to amend the common victualler's license to an innholder license, which allows extended hours of operation. If the transfer is approved by the licensing board, the new restaurant and satellite bar would be open daily until 2 a.m.
