Fromage opened at noon today, according to an employee reached by phone this afternoon. Caught in Southie reported that the long-awaited wine bar and retail shop softly opened last week, and yesterday, a Twitter tipster said the public opening would be Tuesday.
First announced in May 2013, Fromage stalled before reigniting its opening bid last fall. Its social media presence fell silent again after that, but new signage suggested the bar was poised to open in February. March (almost April) is close enough.
Fromage serves wines by the bottle and glass, dispensed from a Napa Technology WineStation. As previously reported, the menu includes small plates, soups, and salads; it will also serve craft beer and coffee. Plus, cheese.
The spot aims to stay open til 1 a.m. daily, the employee said.
