Soon, Somerville will be full of momo — Nepali dumplings. In addition to the previously reported Tasty Mo:Mo:, which is on the verge of opening in Magoun Square, a restaurant called Momo n Curry is in the works for 431 Somerville Ave., across from Market Basket. (Incidentally, it's down the street from a restaurant called Dosa n Curry; it's unclear whether there's a connection.)
Momo n Curry will serve "freshly cooked, tasty Nepali and Indian fast food," according to its fledgling Facebook page, which also indicates that the tandoor and cooking range have already been set up. No word on an opening date — just "coming soon." (UPDATE: They're aiming for early-to-mid-April.)
Momo will come in servings of eight, priced from $8 to $12, depending on the filling. Options include vegetarian, shrimp & scallops, wild boar, goat, choila (jerk chicken), and more. There are also some soups and sides, including an herbed flatbread, gundruk (a cured mustard leaf soup), and Nepali pickles.
On the "curry" side, there are a number of entrees, including a substantial vegetarian selection (plantain curry, paneer curry, and more). The restaurant will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
