Bee's Knees Supply Co. is in fact coming to Allston, as reported last month, and the new shop could be open within 30 days, according to Boston Magazine.
Co-founder Jason Owens told the magazine that the new cafe and market will cater specifically to its Allston neighborhood, offering prepared food to go and different brands than are available at the original Bee's Knees in Fort Point. The new 9,500-square foot shop will also sell fair-trade coffee, cheese, meats, fresh produce, and other artisan grocery items, as well as craft beer and wine, and there will be a juice bar.
Bee's Knees is opening at 1314 Commonwealth Ave. in the space that housed Joshua Tree, a sports bar that closed in January. Owens told the magazine that Allston's young population and growing residential development made the location ideal for his small business. "What we do is very culinary driven, and it’s about the best of things, mainly in the food and beverage world and culture. It doesn’t mean the most expensive or fancy necessarily."
