Sal's Pizza is going before the Boston Licensing Board tomorrow to transfer its existing business .2 miles away on Brookline Street in Boston's Fenway neighborhood, Boston Restaurant Talk notes. According to a tweet from the company, Sal's was hoping to reopen in Fenway at 51 Brookline St. around this time, though tomorrow's hearing suggests they are a little behind.
Sal's Pizza shuttered at 132 Brookline Ave. back in July. The New England company, which was founded by Sal Lupoli in 1990, has more than two dozen locations around Massachusetts and New Hampshire, as well as one each in Arizona, California, and Mumbai, India. Lupoli is also behind five locations of the more upscale Salvatore's.
When Sal's closed its Fenway spot this summer, the company announced a food truck would be hitting the road in its stead. While the truck definitely made it out to the 'burbs, it seems like Fenway has wanted for the pizza. Pending approval of license transfer, the wait should be over soon.
