Tomorrow is opening day for DC-based Amsterdam Falafelshop's second Boston-area outpost, according to a press release. The Kenmore Square location (642 Beacon St.) debuts at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 13, about two-and-a-half years after its Davis Square, Somerville sibling opened in the former Diva Lounge space. Matt D'Alessio, who owns the Somerville location, and Laurence Wintersteen, "a longtime local restaurateur," according to the release, own the new shop.
Amsterdam Falafelshop has a relatively simple menu — how many balls do you want? Pita or bowl? Fries? Diners order at the counter and then move along a toppings bar, picking out their choice of sauces, vegetables (lots of pickled things), and more. "Don't forget to crush your balls," the restaurant reminds diners. You'll be able to fit more toppings and experience less spillage while eating.
