Boston proper has lost its sole location of the Firehouse Subs chain. Boston Restaurant Talk notes via a Twitter tipster that the windows at the Boylston Street shop are papered over, adding that the address has been removed from the company's website.
When the Florida-based sandwich chain announced its Boston expansion in 2012, it planned to open 69 new stores in the area, with a whopping 85 total in New England. By the time it opened in September 2012, Firehouse was among a handful of new sandwich chains in the downtown area.
The company continues to operate its Danvers, Woburn, and Nashua, N.H. locations.
