With fire extinguishers ready, Royal hopes to begin serving breakfast, lunch, and dinner next week.
The Watertown restaurant was aiming for a January opening, launching a Kickstarter to help fund the finishing touches on the space at 45 Lexington St. Royal team Melanie Nye and Rachid Kourda missed the mark on the $23,000 crowdfunding campaign, but the duo moved forward through this snowy season and are poised to open next week, chef Kourda recently posted on Facebook.
The chic space features lots of black leather, and when Royal opens, it will serve equally "sexy plates," as Kourda calls them. The menu features farm-to-table, organic ingredients and draws from Kourda's culinary experience in France with crepes, a croque madame, and a lemon-tarragon chicken sandwich. It also delves into seriously naughty territory with deep-fried Oreos and bacon-wrapped hot dogs.
