Pending any weather-related setbacks, chef-owner Asia Mei plans to open her new venture, Moonshine 152, this week.
UrbanDaddy got a sneak peek of the forthcoming spot, and with similar furniture and vibe, Moonshine resembles the previous tenant, Franklin Southie. No surprise there, as Mei is an alum. Also familiar are some menu items, including Mei's Korean short rib tacos, a recipe from her days as Franklin Southie's original chef. Look forward to many new items, too, like whole grilled pig ear and pork fat popcorn.
While late night will be the focus — the kitchen will be open nightly until 1:30 a.m. — brunch is also starting to sound really exciting. It's been reported that the new restaurant will follow Trina's Starlite Lounge's lead with a Monday industry brunch, which will include a menu item honoring television's champion of breakfast food, Ron Swanson. Improper Bostonian sheds more light on this: While the Parks & Rec character typically keeps it simple with bacon and eggs, Mei's homage to the mustachioed man will change weekly, inspired by food-related quotes from the show.
Keep tabs on Moonshine's progress on Facebook, and keep silently cursing the weather.
