CENTRAL SQUARE — Pass on the day-old chocolate hearts this Sunday, February 15 and head over to Brick & Mortar for three courses of pastry and cocktail pairings at Black Hearts Club: An Anti-Valentine's Day Event. The three sweet courses come from chefs Kate Holowchik (Bread & Salt), Jacqueline Dole (Mei Mei), and Nicole Harrington (Catalyst), while Brick & Mortar's Matthew Schrage will mix the drinks. Plus, proceeds benefit The Developing Minds Foundation. Tickets are available now.
HUB-WIDE — So, how much do you know about heritage breed pigs? If the answer is "not much," Cochon 555 wants to change that. As part of a tour of the U.S., the pork purveyors descend on Boston from February 20 - 22 to celebrate heritage breed pigs and set the course for a safer food system. A guest chef dinner starts things off in Cambridge on Friday at Harvest, followed by a steakhouse feast at Post 390 in the Back Bay on Saturday, and concluding with the main event at Royale on Sunday: a culinary competition where five top chefs are challenged to create a menu from a locally-raised heritage breed pig. Sound like your cut of pork?
INMAN SQUARE — The ladies behind Trina's Starlite Lounge have something classy up their sleeves: The Inman Square neighborhood bar announced a Women, Wine, & Wieners dinner on Wednesday, March 11. Four of Boston's top female chefs will prepare a four-course meal, presumably starring the hot dog. Keep an eye on Trina's Facebook page for more information.
HUB-WIDE — So, uh, tomorrow's Valentine's Day. If this is news to you, don't worry! Plenty of hot spots around the city want to help you impress your date. There's still time to make a reservation, but if your scene is more casual, plenty of places will welcome walk-ins, too.
