A fast-casual burger chain based in Plano, Texas has Boston locations in the pipeline, according to the Boston Business Journal. Mooyah Burgers, Fries & Shakes, which has locations in 21 states — along with nine international restaurants — has signed leases for new stores in Northborough and Jamaica Plain.

The northward expansion is reportedly part of the chain's bigger plan to open an additional 20 restaurants in the next five years. Mooyah's CEO, Rich Hicks, had told the Dallas Business Journal he hoped to have 100 stores by the end of 2015.

Mooyah is known for its customizable burgers (including a veggie option), its fries, and its shakes.

It is one of a handful of burger chains in the process of expanding in this area. Five Guys has an Allston location in the worksWahlburgers has opened a Fenway restaurant, and Shake Shack has opened several locations in the area.
