Small-batch handmade chocolates are getting a home of their own: Spindler Confections, a three-year-old concept that started in a residential kitchen, is getting ready to open in its own storefront near Davis and Porter squares in Cambridge. There will be a grand opening on December 12.
Confectioner Jeremy Spindler started making treats in his home in spring 2012. From hand-crafted caramels to brittles and chocolates, Spindler grew his business selling his creations at local shops and markets, from his home, and online.
Spindler launched a Kickstarter campaign to help raise extra funds to open the storefront at 2257 Massachusetts Ave. and will celebrate Saturday with a grand opening from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.
The shop will sell Spindler's usual candies, plus some new items like fudge, filled chocolates, and marshmallows. There will also be candy-making tools, ingredients, and books available, as previously reported.
Spindler's Confections will be open from December 12-23, then closed from December 24 to January 1.
Correction: This story previously stated that the shop will be in Somerville; the address is actually in Cambridge.
