The wait is almost over for Tiger Mama, chef Tiffani Faison's Southeast Asian restaurant in Fenway (1363 Boylston St.), down the street from her barbecue place Sweet Cheeks. Come December 10, reports the Globe, guests will be able to feast on a menu that packs a punch, drawing inspiration from Faison's travels.

Faison told the Globe of the "unbelievable smells" she found while visiting Southeast Asia in 2008 with her now wife, Kelly Walsh, and she said that Tiger Mama will provide guests "a door into these flavors."

The menu at Tiger Mama will break down into seven categories, according to the Improper Bostonian: "snacks, cold and fresh, crispy and spicy, broths and curries, rich and earthy, noodles and rice, and banquet."

Faison said she planned to have familiar dishes like pad thai (kicked up a notch, naturally) along with unfamiliar features, like cha ca la vong, which will be a halibut-based dish flavored with dill, scallions, nuoc cham, and more.

Tiger Mama will also have two bars — one tiki-themed — and the overall feel of the place will be a bit more formal than Sweet Cheeks, Faison told the Globe. She also said she hoped people would leave the restaurant feeling "like they were on vacation."
