A barbecue restaurant in Bedford has closed to allow its owners to focus on catering and food truck operations, according to Boston Restaurant TalkFirebox BBQ (347 Great Rd.) will reportedly move its business to Woburn as a new restaurant called Virsa de Punjab Indian Kitchen and Bar moves into the space.

Firebox served a mix of traditional Southern barbecue dishes and some Tex-Mex items. The company posted about the restaurant closure on its website, confirming its efforts to focus more on its Wildfire Catering.

A note to customers read, in part: "We would like to thank all of our customers who have supported us over the years, and we look forward to serving all of your catering needs whether it's a family get together, a special event, or a party at your office. We're excited to bring new and innovative cuisine to catering while still offering the tastes and dishes that so many of our customers have come to know and love."

The new Indian restaurant could open by February and reportedly will retain a bunch of the Firebox equipment and acquire its full liquor license.
