A pizza place has replaced a Mediterranean-style cafe in Melrose, according to Boston Restaurant Talk. Wood and Fire Neapolitan Pizzeria has fired up its special oven at 35 Essex St. in the old Tooba's location.
The restaurant's 12-inch pizzas range in cost from $10-17 and in style from a margherita to one named after the place itself: Wood and Fire comes with prosciutto di parma, fior di latte, arugula, and shaved parmigiano reggiano.
The menu also features appetizers, soups, salads, sandwiches, and a range of Italian desserts, like tiramisu, cannoli, and — on the funkier side —a Nutella pizza, made with banana, hazelnut, and sweet ricotta.
Wood and Fire is open Monday through Wednesday from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m., Thursday through Saturday from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and is closed Sundays.
