A Waltham-based liquor store is opening in Downtown Crossing, offering customers more than 600 wine options, 200 scotches, and a delightful deli. Gordon's Fine Wines & Liquors has softly opened to the public, complete with Boston proper's only New England Charcuterie/Moody's Delicatessen counter.
Gordon's Boston, as it is known, revealed a finished interior in a post on Facebook announcing its soft opening at 39 Temple Pl. yesterday evening. Inside, the store has all its wine, liquor, and beer stored in tall, wooden shelving. There is also a space for tasting 48-plus wines from special Enomatic wine machines during store hours.
The store's owner, David Gordon, previously told Eater that the Moody's deli counter will be a "mini version" of the larger shop in Waltham. In the beginning the counter will have charcuterie, cheese, pre-made sandwiches, and wagyu beef jerky, among other items. Later on, the plan is to expand to offer made-to-order sandwiches and sliced meats.
Gordon's will eventually host seminars and events featuring winemakers, brewers, and distillers.
