A new restaurant opened up across from the Washington Street MBTA stop in Brighton: Sultana's Bakery and Cafe is now offering Turkish delicacies, breakfast items, and assorted baked goods.
There are some intriguing items on the menu, including this treat, along with acma (a buttery Turkish bagel) sandwiches, stuffed biscuits called pogaca, and baked filled pastries made from homemade dough called borek.
Sultana's also serves sandwiches, panini, salads, and desserts (including baklava), plus coffee and tea. It took over the space previously occupied by Lee's Super Market, a Spanish and American grocery. Sultana's hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. from Monday to Friday, 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, and 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.
