Somerville Restaurateur Ken Kelly Has Died

A pioneer of the Somerville restaurant community died on December 23.

Kenneth Kelly, an entrepreneur and fixture within the Somerville restaurant community, passed away on December 23, according to an obituary in The Somerville Times.

Kelly was heavily involved in the Somerville community as the Union Square business group chair in the Somerville Chamber of Commerce. He also owned The Independent, Brass Union, Foundry on Elm, Saloon, and River Bar.

Kelly was given the John W. Fitzgerald Lifetime Achievement Award for his work in these areas. He also owned his own consulting company.

Kelly was born in Ireland. Services will be held on Wednesday.
