A confectioner known for making glorious stacked crepe cakes is opening a store in Back Bay come February, but Boston won't have to wait that long to try its desserts. Lady M Confections is offering pre-orders for cakes that can be picked up from Chatime Tea House at 31 Harrison Ave. starting on December 23.
Orders can be placed by phone and will be available until the actual shop opens at 304 Newbury St. The Lady M pop-up will have two cakes available in nine-inch sizes: the signature and green tea mille crêpe cakes.
Lady M has locations in New York, Canada, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Singapore, and it is most noted for these mille crêpes cakes, which come in assorted flavors, including green tea, chocolate, and coconut. The cakes are made with at least 20 crêpes layered with pastry cream. The store also makes fruit tarts, cheesecakes (rated some of the best in New York by Eater's own Robert Sietsema), eclairs, and more, plus lunch and coffee.
