A local favorite is opening its second location in Quincy. The city's licensing board approved a new Marylou's Coffee for 22 Independence Ave., where a CVS stood previously.

Marylou's Coffee has dozens of locations stretching from Quincy to Rhode Island. The shop is named after Marylou Sandry, who opened the first store in Hanover in 1986 and still travels around to the shops, greeting customers and overseeing employees, according to the shop's website.

The store serves assorted hot and iced coffee beverages, frozen drinks, and teas.

The new Marylou's will operate in part of the space, while Adams Variety operates in the other part, as the licensing board minutes indicated. Marylou's will be open from 5 a.m. to 9 p.m.
