Tasty on the Hill, a new breakfast and lunch spot in Medford's Hillside neighborhood, replaced Tasty Gourmet on 321 Boston Ave. near the Tufts University campus. But its owner and former Finagle a Bagel executive, Antonio Pereira, is bringing new flavor to the area.
The 30-seat restaurant offers sit-down dining for its wide selection of standard American breakfast fare: eggs, egg sandwiches, pancakes, and more. But Pereira added the flare from his native Portugal to the lunch menu with Tasty on the Hill's signature sandwich, called Francesinhas, according to Wicked Local.
Pereira likened it to a club sandwich, "layered and topped with a house sauce, cheese, meat, eggs," he told Wicked Local. There are six different types of Francesinhas on the menu, and they come covered in melted cheese and doused in the sauce — a somewhat spicy condiment made from Pereira's family recipe. The restaurant also serves burgers, salads, soups, and wraps, plus a range of other sandwiches.
Tasty on the Hill will have a ribbon-cutting ceremony on November 9, in honor of its opening. The restaurant is open from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. seven days a week, and dinner will be on the way soon.
