An international chicken restaurant with locations in Allston, Cambridge, and Lowell has softly opened in downtown Salem. The Korean chain BonChon posted an update on its Facebook page indicating its soft opening for friends and family on November 18 and an anticipated general opening by November 23. Since then, BonChon has been open under shortened hours but could stretch to regular hours soon.

The restaurant, located at 299 Salem St., is the fourth BonChon in the metro area. The chain is known for serving up fried chicken wings, strips, and drums with either soy garlic or spicy sauce. BonChon also has sides ranging from miso soup to coleslaw, plus oysters, salads, bacon wraps, pork buns, soups and noodles, sushi, and more.

An Instagram user shared a post about the new restaurant after stopping for lunch, declaring it to be "#yumyuminthetumtum."
