The Chicken & Rice Guys are opening their second brick-and-mortar location and kicking off the occasion with a celebration on November 18. The new restaurant at 64 Salem St. in Medford will give CNR an opportunity for further growth, according to the company's senior business manager, Damien Yee.
"We're definitely looking forward to helping out Medford Square," Yee said, and "having our own space to cook is a definite plus for us." CNR joins a number of other restaurants in the area that cater to people working nearby.
CNR held a soft opening in Medford last Thursday and will officially open to the public with its "grand hatching" on November 18. CNR has a Willy Wonka-style giveaway planned for customers who attend: One plate will have a "golden sticker" that grants the winning customer a lifetime of chicken and rice, while other plates will have stickers for free hats or shirts.
The grand opening starts at 11 a.m. and runs until 9 p.m. CNR's other brick-and-mortar location at 84 Bedford St. in downtown Boston is open weekdays from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., and there are four food trucks in circulation around Boston, Cambridge, Watertown, and beyond.
Update (11/7/15): The official opening date has been pushed to November 18, as CNR is awaiting final inspections from the city. The previously planned date was November 12.
