With locations in New York, Los Angeles, Singapore, and Hong Kong, Lady M is extending its sugary reach to Boston's Back Bay with a location in the works at 304 Newbury St., underneath a Fjällräven store (outdoorsy clothing and gear). Lurking on Facebook since May, the company has been coy about announcing an opening date, but it will go before the licensing board on December 2 seeking approval for a common victualler license. If approved, the bakery could operate between the hours of 10 a.m. and 8 p.m. daily.

Lady M is best known for its mille crêpes cakes, which come in a variety of flavors (chocolate, green tea, coconut, and more). Each cake is a stack of at least twenty crêpes alternating with layers of pastry cream. There are also chocolate cakes, cheesecakes, fruit tarts, eclairs, sandwiches, salads, coffee and tea, and more.

The cheesecakes are among New York's best, according to Eater critic Robert Sietsema in a 2014 cheesecake round-up:

"With an austere setting that might be an effete Upper East Side plastic surgery clinic, Lady M makes some of the best pastries this side of Paris, and her cheesecake is no exception. But this is no ordinary cheesecake; in fact it barely qualifies in the traditional category. The product is clearly inspired by the famed Sarah Lee frozen cheesecake of the last millennium, with a thin but well-oiled graham-cracker crust, a surreally dense and cool interior, and a signature layer of tart sour cream on top for added funk. Eat it and swoon."
