A noted fixture in Boston's restaurant industry died as a result of an accident over the weekend, according to his employer. Ryan McGrale was beverage director at Tavern Road, where he was known to be an innovative pioneer of craft cocktails, as Universal Hub reported.
The restaurant wrote on its Facebook page: "The entire Tavern Road family is crushed for our loss, as well as for the loss of Ryan's family, girlfriend and friends. We are humbled by the love we have seen for Ryan since the news broke."
Colleagues, customers, and friends took to social media to share condolences and memories.
McGrale, who previously worked at No 9. Park, earned praise from Food & Wine in 2006, when he was named one of America's top bartenders and dubbed "a perfectionist who specializes in elegant twists on classic drinks."
Tavern Road plans to post details on funeral arrangements when they are confirmed.
