Avana Sushi to Take Over Samurai Kuang in Downtown Crossing

A Chinatown sushi restaurant is reportedly moving in at 58 Franklin St., the former location for Samurai Kuang, which indicates on its voicemail that it is under new management.

An employee at Avana Sushi (42 Beach St.) confirmed that the restaurant would be opening on Franklin Street, but she did not provide a timeline for opening or information on whether the development is a relocation or an expansion.

Avana Sushi also has an outpost in Reading. Both restaurants have similar menus with extensive options, including a selection of soups, salads, sushi rolls, sashimi, special maki, and sushi platters. The tiny Chinatown location is part of a unique food court of sorts that also includes a cell phone vendor. Both Avana locations display customer art drawn on styrofoam plates.
