A Cuban restaurant is planned for a space at the Hampton Inn in Boston's Newmarket Square (811 Massachusetts Ave.), according to Boston Restaurant Talk. The same people behind Vejigantes, a Puerto Rican restaurant, and Merengue, a Dominican restaurant and catering spot, applied for a license to open Doña Habana in the space where Rudi's Resto Cafe had been.
A Facebook post from Nivia Pina, one of the co-owners of the other restaurants, announced the project, which is due to open in 2016. Pina is listed on the licensing board information, which requests a seven-day alcohol license for Doña Habana, with a closing time of 1 a.m. The planned space for the restaurant includes an outdoor patio.
