Playska, a Balkan-inspired sandwich shop and bakery, opens today at 11:30 a.m. in Inman Square. Tim and Bronwyn Wiechmann — the duo behind T.W. Food in Cambridge and Bronwyn in Somerville — developed the concept for this shop to have a different purpose than their other ventures.
"We wanted to do something new, innovative, exciting, different for us," Tim Wiechmann told Eater in a previous interview.
The menu, now posted on Playska's website, features Balkan-inspired items, including the signature playska sandwich — a burger/sausage hybrid made with pork and beef patty, bacon pogacha roll, ajvar relish, cucumber pickle, and cream cheese rémoulade — and a number of other sandwich options, both meat and vegetarian, which come with pickled beet and red onion. Playska also offers two kinds of Balkan street food pies, condiments, and six pickle options. Breakfast is in the works.
The fast-casual restaurant has 16 seats and a take-out option. Playska is located in the former Rosie's Bakery space (243 Hampshire St.) and is open Tuesday through Sunday from 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. (or until the food runs out).
